Fasting is upon us.

Great Lent is the one time of the year when it is a good thing to be utterly self-centered and self-focused. (Excepting, of course, all that charity and whatnot we are supposed to be doing.)

Perfect, Steve. :)

"O Lord and Master of my life,
Take from me the spirit of sloth, desire, lust of power and idle talk.
Give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love to Thy servant.
Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own transgressions,
And not to judge my brother.
For Thou art blessed, always now and forever. Amen.

The Prayer of St. Ephrem"

Hugs,
B. Joanna

I need to put this up on the bulletin board at church. There are some people there who really need to see it! ;)

Every year, I give up fasting for Lent.

Good for you, Anonymous, that must mean you fast the whole rest of the year then!

Ugh... I find myself doing this, except I'm not looking at Orthodox Christians' plates but the plates of the non-Orthodox. Pray for me, a sinner.
